5 Ways to Stay Cool This Summer

Summers are brutal and they are just getting hotter and hotter! The most important thing this summer is to remember to stay out of the heat long enough to let your body cool down and recoup to avoid getting sick.

Here are 5 ways to do that without letting it put a damper in your fun summer activities!

1.Keep your blinds closed

One of my favorite parts of the summer is the beautiful bright sunshine. If I can’t be outdoors I love to have all the blinds open and the natural sunlight fill my home. This sounds amazing in theory but in reality this is actually just making my home hotter. Not only are the beautiful sunrays making my home hotter but also it’s making my air conditioning bill higher. As incredible as it is to have all the blinds open the smartest thing we can do this summer is keep the blinds closed and step outside every so often to get our fill of rays.

2.Dont Layer

Laying clothing in the summer is one of the easiest ways to sweat to death! Layering is trendy and cute but it is not worth sweat stains and dehydration. Good ways to solve this problem are buying tank tops and T’s made out of loose breathable fabric that are long enough and have a high enough neckline where you don’t have to wear an under shirt.

3.Blow up pool

If you don’t have a pool in your back yard and you don’t have access to a pool it might seem as if you are out of luck! You might feel like your urge to lie in some water and cool off while still getting a killer tan is crushed. This is not true! Go buy a cheap kid pool from Wal-Mart and plop it in your backyard! Although you cannot do laps or dive this will satisfy your craving!

4.Movies

Most summer activities are outside in the hot muggy air. Most of the times during the summer you find yourself just sitting inside because its too hot to go outside and you don’t know what else to do. I have the solution to your problem. You need to watch movies! This could look like going to your nearest dollar theater and watching 3 movies in a row or having a bunch of friends over to watch a movie on your couch. What would be really fun is to have a movie marathon party where you watch a certain genre or series of movies.

5. Get an app

Have you ever been sitting on the couch sweating but your too lazy to get up and turn the thermostat down? Have you ever been driving home and your dreading to walk into your because you know its going to be hot and it will take a while to cool down? I have a solution to your problem. I found a company call Smith Monitoring that provides Coppell home security and is a leader in home security Dallas. They offer an app where you can change the temperature of your home from your smart phone from inside your house or across town. This app has saved me energy and frustration. It is truly worth having!
